Ten Commandments for Responsible Owners

1. My life is likely to last about 10 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I have only you!

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice and when it's speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.

9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old.

10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or "Let it happen in my absence". Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.

Brianna is being fostered in Indiana by Lynn and Bob Spohr.  She came into our rescue program with Sarah who was also fostered by a different family in Indiana. Sarah's blog is well known to many and she was recently adopted. We assume that these two girls were littermates.

Since she moved in with the Spohrs, she has gone from being a terrified abused soul to one that now knows what cookies are, plays with toys, comes into the house and gives affection as well as accepts it when given to her. She is now willing to go  on a grooming table to have her  nails clipped and work on coat and clean ears.

Brianna is a pocket bully, about 50 pounds. Her hair is starting to come back in. She no longer messes in her crate and is learning house manners. She needs the confidence that another dog gives her. The Spohrs' Bullmastiff yearling Celeste is responsible for her coming out from her fears. If Celeste says to do it Brianna will now try. Brianna needs to live with other dogs. She has no aggression of any sort, to any living creature.

Hello, my name is Stella and I am a young bullmastiff (3-4 years) that is looking for a forever home. My background is a fading memory; I know I lived in a kennel for most of my life and I had a lot of babies. I am in a foster home now and enjoying a good life. I am crate trained, but I'm not completely housebroken. My foster mom is helping me learn the rules and she said I'm making good progress. I have all my vaccines  and I am heartworm negative and on preventatives.

I do best when I have a four-legged friend around as I am a little shy and a little unsure. I like to play and I love getting a belly rub; I'm just learning what self confidence is. I know basic obedience commands such as sit and I'm working hard on down. My foster mom has cats and they do not bother me! I do walk very nicely on a leash and I absolutely LOVE to ride in a car. I need a home that will teach me how to live with a family and be the best I can be. I prefer a house with older children; 12 and up if possible.

If you're interested in being my forever family, please contact Christine at midoglvr4@comcast.net

"Eve" is a red fawn female Bullmastiff. She's barely 2.5 years old.

Her hobbies and interests include; Obedience training, Frisbee, Long walks, Car rides, and Snuggling up with a home video

Eve’s story begins just before Thanksgiving when she was dropped off at a boarding kennel, by her former family, only to never be picked up again! During holidays that should be spent with family, Eve spent alone.  Throughout those long months in the boarding kennel, Eve lost 22lbs longing for her family. Eve came into rescue on Valentines Day! Now everyday is a great day to be rescued…. but how about getting rescue on the day of the year that celebrates LOVE!!! This is a special girl who desires to be apart of a family full of love!

Due to her size, Eve’s ideal home would be a home with only large dogs and dog savvy children (10 years and up). A fenced in yard for safety and play is required.

Eve is housebroken; crate trained, walks best on a gentle leader/Halti and knows basic obedience (sit, down, stay, lay, paw, and go). She is very smart girl and would enjoy a family willing to continue her obedience training.

Eve has been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and micro chipped. If you are interested in adopting Eve contact Tiffany Dukes at kmanlettice@yahoo.com

"Daisy" is a lovely Brindle girl. She is two years old.

Daisy's interests include: Obedience training, long walks, car rides, and carrying her dog blanket or stuffed toys around in her mouth!

Daisy’s story begins at a shelter just as many other rescues.  Daisy was bred, had a litter of puppies and tossed out of her home. She spent 3 long weeks in a shelter waiting for her owners to claim her before she was rescued.

Daisy’s ideal home would be a home with either small or large dogs and may include dog savvy children (7 years and up). A fenced in yard for safety and play is required.

Daisy is still very much an adolescent. She is just about housebroken but will need a home that will continue to provide a mid day potty break to help her get through those hours when the family works outside the home. She walks great on a lead and loves to play fetch. This is a super sweet girl that deserves a loving family.

Daisy has been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and micro chipped. If you are interested in adopting Eve contact Tiffany Dukes at kmanlettice@yahoo.com
