Tootsie's Rescue

Tootsie was surrendered to our Rescue Volunteers by her "Breeder" due to her not reproducing any longer. She was scared and worried, she crouched down when approached or touched.

Tootsie had been bred again and again and terribly overbred, there is no doubt that her body wears the scars of reproduction.

Since coming into our Rescue Program, Tootsie has been spayed and our vet has given her the "Excellence of Health" blessing.

Tootsie's mammaries will always be terribly enlarged and hang beneath her to remind us all of her shameful owners... but they don't cause her any health concerns. It's all cosmetic.

Her teats can be cosmetically altered thru surgical procedure. This can be an option the adoptive home "may" consider if they wished. Tootsie isn't bothered by her "looks"... and we think she's mighty pretty!!

Tootsie has tendencies that are not so tolerable, although not many. She shows love, patience and kindness in most every situation. She has learned that shredding her beds is not so wonderful and her behaviors have changed for the better during her foster care..

She needs to be supervised with her toys and beds during initial re-homing. It may take a few weeks to "understand" boundaries as Tootsie is an independent and sometimes lonely gal. She is wonderful in a crate for times that she can not be with her humans.

Hi there, I'm "Tootsie"! I'm in the RESCUE SPOTLIGHT this month and appreciate you taking time to see my story! I'm so beautiful (everyone tells me so) and ready for adoption so I'm lucky to have this page to show myself off.

My foster sisters and I (above) love to go for car rides to the local park and take long walks together along the Long Island walking trails. They told me they too were once "rescue dogs" but they were adopted and found their forever family, I'm excited to be just like them someday... ADOPTED! Will you adopt me?

I behave well in the SUV and really like having sisters to ride with. I'm not sure why they have pink noses and blue eyes though, my beautiful brown eyes and black muzzle seem to fit me well. See (below) how I can use my brown eyes to look sooo sad and get anything I want!?

I'm pictured above laying in the lap of luxury watching some late night television with my foster family. These sweat pants make such a comfy place for my big beautiful head. Can you believe I weigh 130 lbs and my foster mom and dad allow me to snooze on their laps? I'm in heaven! I bet her legs fall asleep with my big beautiful head laying across them!!

Wanna see my side profile? Here is my best side (below). I'm a gorgeous Bullmastiff... everything about me says "purebred". I'm Tootsie!! I think they should change this chain collar to pearls. Maybe my adoption profile can say something about that?

I'm a very quiet girl, appreciating the finer things in life (since I've never had them!) I like rolling around on my back the best. I love to be petted, I basically just leeeeeean myself against my foster mom and dad's legs and they pet me (alot). We all go for walks together, that's just so refreshing after having so many babies. I need to walk off this "baby fat"! I'm lucky my hips are so good...

Here I am (below) playing with one of my foster housemates... I love to show off, I'm Tootsie!! I'm so much fun to play with (everyone says so!)

I am almost a perfect match for a family, I just know I am! I am sweet and kind, I don't mind children (as long as they don't mind petting me a lot).

I am enjoying the company of the other dogs in my foster home so that's not a problem. I'm happy and friendly.

I like my crate but what I like better is nudging my foster mom's elbow when she's sleeping in her bed. (she thinks that's really cute)

I walk nicely on my leash and my manners are just wonderful. I am housebroken and mature. (I'm no puppy, that's for sure!!) Watching late night TV is my all time favorite, add in some popcorn and I'm yours forever!!

I love meeting new people, the more the merrier. I tend to mind my business most of the time (as long as I get my petting in).

I hope someone finds me as lovely and as pretty as my foster home does, I've had a (ruff) beginning to life but I have a feeling it's all uphill from here!!
